Recently, Jason Wong was awarded the 747-8 Production Engineering Employee of the Month at The Boeing Company. This nomination was given to him for working an outstanding job on a specific critical issue, while continually making significant contributions in his day-to-day work. Several of Jason’s peers who nominated him said he went above and beyond the daily minimum, maintained a positive attitude in the work environment, took great pride in his work, and helped others solve problems and create initiatives. Reflecting on his time with EDI, Jason learned about the importance of branding oneself, “EDI provided a lot of useful tips in establishing personal core values. Something I remembered was the emphasis on being passionate, and doing what you love. Give it your 100% and do things with the intent to make a positive change. Keeping a competitive drive will separate me from the rest, and I plan to take all the advice EDI has given me and continue to utilize them to the best of my abilities."
After graduating from EDI's Hispanic Discovery Program in 2012, Linda Sorto became a 777 Interiors Design Integration Engineering Lead in March of 2013 at The Boeing Company. Her responsibility includes leading a team of thirteen engineers and technical experts whose goal is to achieve integration of 22 design commodities in a cabin that meets and exceeds Boeing's regulatory, and customer requirements. As of July 10th, 2015, Linda is serving as acting manager for the same team. "EDI has enhanced my personal awareness to skills and leadership attributes, which have been instrumental in my advancement in personal and career growth."
Bradford Chun has recently accepted a position as Senior Director of Engineering for Hawaiian Airlines in Honolulu, Hawaii. Most recently, Brad was an engineering manager in the Flight Control Design Center for the Boeing Company in Everett, WA. Having just celebrated his ten year anniversary with Boeing this year, Brad previously worked in various engineering assignments with United Airlines in San Francisco, CA and had a brief 2-year stint as a pilot for a Delta Airlines commuter carrier, based on the East Coast. In his new role, Brad will be in charge of the organization responsible for maintaining the technical excellence of Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet of Boeing and Airbus aircraft, ensuring the fleet meets the latest regulatory and compliance requirements, safety and airworthiness standards, and that preventative, scheduled maintenance and modification activity are accomplished in an efficient and cost effective manner. “My intent is to ensure that Engineering’s presence is transparent to customers. I want the customer to experience a safe, reliable and on-time trip while enjoying the hospitality from Hawaiian’s world-class inflight staff on their way to vacation to the Hawaiian Isles, Asia, Australia, US Mainland, or wherever else Hawaiian flies to.” Reflecting back on his EDI experience, Brad says, “EDI has been an incredible opportunity for me to learn new leadership skills that are so critical in getting ahead in today’s environment. In the Leadership Navigation program, the executive speakers and professional coaches that were available to participants shared such valuable insight, skills, tips and new ways of thinking that allow us to be effective leaders – even if we retain or are able to implement just a fraction of the new skills learned. EDI’s program allows participants to not just learn new skills, but actively practice them, too! What made the EDI experience most enjoyable and valuable were the friendships developed with other Leadership Navigation participants – folks that I hope stay friends for life.”
